The Paranoid Writer

When Life Gets in the Way

Good news. I received a call from an agent for my full manuscript. I hope that is a good sign. In the meantime, I’m still plugging away at the query letters, and I started outlining my next novel.

I found a great web site, agentquery.com, that offers information about agents. Most of the agents accept email queries, and there is a full bio on each agent and what they have published. Good stuff. I’m hitting this web site first before I hit my other agent book. So far, my search on this site has yielded 138 agents in my field, so wish me luck while I query.

Also, I had a bit of a confrontation with my daughter’s sports team, and I smoothed it over by soothing egos, but all this becomes fodder for my next short story. Never irritate a writer.

Hard to Enter Text Again

I find it difficult to enter the text again for serious edits. It’s hard to go back and re-enter the text and re-visit your character because as a writer, you enter the character’s thoughts, and to enter anyone’s thoughts is a serious matter and not to be taken lightly. The hard part about editing is going back and remembering the details of what you wrote–what did the car look like or the stroller? It’s tedious. The easy part is correcting the grammar. The hardest part is after the editing process, to separate yourself from your character and then only to enter yet again.

I’m Still Plugging Away

So here I am. I haven’t gone away. I’m finishing up some edits on Chapters 1 and 2, which need them, and then I’ll start sending off again. I have a new book, so maybe that will help. I just have to keep at it, and I’ll find a publisher. Wish me luck.
